Under-flame 02 lancing
In glass furnaces, underflame lancing makes it possible to inject oxygen directly below the flame to increase the temperature close to the glass, thus improving thermal transfer to the surface of the bath.
The shape of the flame obtained can be controlled to permit better coverage of the bath and reduce emissions of NOX , thanks to the delayed mixing of the combustive agent with the fuel.
In addition to the benefits of oxygen-enriched air, under-flame lancing prevents the burner block and the refractory wall overheating, is easy to install with negligible modifications to the combustion chamber and no modifications to the traditional air-fuel system.
SOL’s experience offers solutions for under-flame lancing systems designed to maximise the benefits of this technique on the basis of specific process requirements.
